Four children were killed and five others were injured on Wednesday when a man in Southern Brazil climbed a wall and hit them with a small axe.
Security chief Marcio Alberto Filippi told reporters that the 25-year-old guy turned himself in to police following the attack.
According to the police, three children—one girl, age 7, and two boys, ages 4 and 5, were killed.
While police and firefighters inspected the scene in the city of Blumenau in the state of Santa Catarina, anxious parents hurried to the daycare center out of fear that their children would be among the victims.
Police mentioned that the attacker had a history of violence and drugs, and had stabbed his stepfather in March 2021.
