Indian engineer among nine victims of mass shooting in the United States

On May 6, 2023, nine people tragically lost their lives after a shooting happened in an outlet mall to the north of Dallas, including a 27-year-old woman, Aishwarya Thatikonda - an Indian engineer who was a resident of Saroornagar in Hyderabad.

Her father was Additional District Judge Thatikonda Narsireddy, who is presently employed in the Ranga Reddy District Commercial Courts complex. In Texas, she was hired by a privately owned company as a project manager.

Aishwarya was shopping with her friends at the Texas Allen Premium Outlets mall when the situation took place.

Mauricio Garcia, 33, a Dallas resident, opened fire on people shopping at the Allen Premium Outlets mall in the north Dallas suburbs with an AR-15 rifle before being fatally shot by a police officer who was nearby attending to another case. Due to the patch, he wore on his outfit, the investigators believe he may have had connections to the far right. “The patch bore the letters RWDS, standing for “Right Wing Death Squad” – believed to be a neo-Nazi group,” reports said.

In the meantime, there's been word that Aishwarya's family in Hyderabad is in contact with a few organizations and Indian authorities in the US to get the body back to India.
