According to a report from WSOC-TV, an angry neighbour in Gaston County, North Carolina, fired at a 6-year-old girl named Kinsley White and her parents, Ashley Hilderbrand and William White, on Tuesday night after a basketball rolled into his yard. The incident occurred at around 8 p.m., and witnesses stated that the alleged gunman, Robert Louis Singletary, became enraged about the bouncing ball and ran down the street firing at a neighbour. Kinsley's father, William, was critically injured while trying to protect his daughter. Neighbours said that a group of kids were playing basketball when the ball ended up in Singletary's yard.

Singletary has been described as "armed and dangerous." Kinsley, who was seriously wounded in the shooting, was hospitalized but was later released, according to information provided to Queen City News by her family. However, her father William White remains in the hospital. Kinsley recounted the incident to the outlet, saying, "He came out with a gun, and he started shooting. Hope my daddy is OK."
