According to Madrid mayor Luis Martinez-Almeida, who spoke to the media outside the building on Saturday, one of the victims was a patron and the other was an employee.A pizza was flambéed by a server, which caused the flames to spread to the walls and ceiling, an eyewitness told El Pais newspaper.
According to Carlos Martin, the fire chief for Madrid, the blaze occurred next to a fire station, and individuals were able to run and inform the firefighters of the incident.As the fire erupted close to the main exit, diners found it difficult to escape, according to emergency officials. The police were looking into what started the fire.
