With a new shift in cars and production, EV is making its way to gaining popularity. Norway is already experiencing this new change in the country. Norway reached a phase where 50 % of vehicles were EV in 2019 only. Recently, the major sale of EV was 80% and Norway has determined to stop sales of combustion engine cars by 2025. Countries are focusing on reducing carbon emissions and, for that matter, international groups and conferences are working hard. But here Norway has already reduced its carbon emissions by 30% from 2009 and Oslo aims at making it 0% by 2030.
The whole scenario in Norway has started changing. People can feel the purity in the air and freshness in the atmosphere due to the shift towards EV. Norway's capital, Oslo, is a city where we can experience this change clearly. But a major problem arises when we talk about EV, is charging stations. Chargers are not that reliable and it takes a lot of time to charge. There are charging stations in the country but many people are still unaware of how to use them. In apartments, people can't find a suitable place to plug the car for charging. The government is subsidizing construction of charging stations and trying to make them the fastest charging stations.
Norway started the use of EV in 1990 to support the EV production 'Think', which was owned by Ford motors for a few years. Today, Tesla is the best selling brand in Norway, more than Renault and Fiat.
But after shifting towards EV, there has not been any decrease in employment. Unemployment is not a problem because gas and fuel stations have been closed. Rather, EV has created employment for many people. The steel plant in Fredrikstand is now converted into a battery recycling centre. In this way, EV has brought a lot more changes in Norway, which might be a future scenario in other countries. Now people look at Norway as an observation centre of how the EV revolution looks alike and they are taking steps ahead for this new change in their own country.
