Authorities have announced that the number of casualties from a fire that occurred at a private hospital in Beijing has now increased to 29. Initial findings suggest that the fire was triggered by flammable paint materials catching fire during renovation work. The blaze erupted in the eastern part of Beijing Changfeng Hospital shortly before 1 pm (05:00 GMT) on Tuesday and was put out in approximately 30 minutes, as reported by state media.
Li Zongrong, the Deputy Mayor of Fengtai district in Beijing, where the hospital is situated, expressed his profound condolences as he announced the latest death toll in a press conference on Wednesday. Most of the 29 victims were patients, with only three being hospital staff members.

According to CCTV, an initial investigation suggested that the fire was triggered by sparks generated during the renovation and construction work inside the hospital's inpatient department. These sparks ignited the flammable paint materials present at the site. During the fire, dozens of individuals were evacuated from the seven-story building, while 39 people were treated for injuries sustained in the incident. Officials stated that three injured are currently in critical condition, while 18 are in serious condition.
