Ajay Banga makes history as the first Indian-American to lead World Bank

Banga most recently held the position of Vice Chairman at General Atlantic after receiving the Padma Shri in 2016. He previously held the position of President and CEO of Mastercard, a multinational corporation with nearly 24,000 employees.

He is the first Indian-American and the first Sikh-American to lead either of the world's most significant financial institutions: the World Bank and the Global Money-related Asset.
