Only months before their anticipated summer wedding, Rupert Murdoch and Ann Lesley Smith, a 66-year-old conservative radio personality and former dental hygienist, reportedly terminated their engagement in a shocking breakup. According to Vanity Fair, the 92-year-old head of Fox Corporation may have put an end to the affair because he was growing uncomfortable with Smith's outspoken evangelical beliefs.
The couple started dating in September 2022, and in March 2023, not long after filing for divorce from his fourth wife, Jerry Hall, Murdoch declared his engagement to Smith.The announcement shocked people all across the world, and Murdoch, who owns the New York Post, revealed that although he had been frightened of falling in love, he knew that this was his "last love." In addition, he disclosed that he had proposed to Smith on St. Patrick's Day, confessing that the moment had worried him.
According to a rumour from February, Murdoch planned to buy a 6,500-square-foot, $30 million co-op on Central Park South to use as their New York home.The exhilaration that their connection had produced has come to an end as Murdoch and Smith's brief romance comes to an end.
