In the course of the India-Pakistan ODI World Cup showdown, on October 15th 2023, fans are getting all creative by booking a hospital room in Ahmedabad. As the excitement has gone skyrocketing and the hotel rooms are already filling fast, being pre-booked, the fans have started booking hospital rooms, claiming that they need a full body check, and would prefer to stay in the hospital overnight.
The rooms in Ahmedabad, have hiked their prices by 20 times their normal prices. For instance, the ITC Welcome Hotel charges 72,000 on match day, for which the fans are still waiting to book a room. Similarly, Courtyard Marriott, Tc Narmada etc, are charging similar rates.
Several interviews given by hospital directors and doctors in Ahmedabad suggest that people are booking rooms only for the sake of watching the match, by staying there at a lower cost, and by escaping the pricing of hotel rooms.
