Vygr Maharashtra: IMD issues orange alert for Mumbai and Thane today

IMD experts said that this week we may experience three digit rainfalls. IMD issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad regions. Today, Wednesday,July 5, 2023, Mumbai will experience heavy rainfall in certain areas. The orange alert for Thane is on Wednesday and Thursday, while for Raigad district it’s there till Saturday.

There will be flood-like situations in some regions of Mumbai on 6 and 7 July as a yellow alert has been declared. On 8 July there will be moderate rains in Mumbai, signaling a green alert for the city.

The reasons behind the west side of having continuous rainfall this week are the offshore trough from South Gujarat coast to Kerala coast and signs of the cyclonic situation over the Bay of Bengal region.

Orange and yellow alerts for Mumbai might cause waterlogging in many areas, but it will also help to increase water levels in 7 lakes which supply water to Mumbai.
