Vygr Maharashtra: Continuous rain leads to waterlogging in Bhiwandi, Thane area

Continuous rain from Sunday in Thane district led to waterlogging problems in various places. In Bhiwandi city of Thane district, low lying areas were covered with water.

Vegetable Market, Teen Batti, Shivaji Chowk, Taiyab Masjid, Khandupada, Ansar Nagar, Aampada and Padmanagar, these are the places that witnessed waterlogging. Due to this mess, Teen Batti Market was closed this morning as there was 2-3 feet of water and no business was possible in such a condition. Later, at 10 am, water was cleared out of the market.

Locals said that this happens every year as the civic body doesn't look at the drainage system and therefore 4-5 hours of rain is enough to waterlog the entire area of Teen Batti Market.

Also, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar, Badlapur in Thane district saw heavy rains and people had to go through 2-3 feet of water.  In Thane, a tree fell due to heavy winds and rain. This rainy situation registered another case of the roof collapsing of a home in Thane.

The IMD has issued an Orange alert for Thane district so there will be continuous rain in the district for the next two days.
