Goa is facing a lot of electricity issues across the entire state. Goa receives electricity from Ambewadi, Karnataka. This time, Karnataka delayed the repair procedure and that's why South Goa is in major trouble with electricity. To resolve this problem, work is in progress at the new electricity sub stations of Mandrem, Saligao, Verna. Power Minister, Ramkrishna Sudin Dhavalikar is taking an update on a regular basis.
Last month, Karnataka was quite busy in the polls and after the polls. Thus, Karnataka started the electricity work much later. But as the Power Minister said, the work on two electricity stations, Verna and Mandrem, will be done this month, which will solve nearly half of the power problems in Goa. While talking about the Saligao substation, it will need 540 days to complete the work. The project is worth Rs. 350 Crore and it will meet the needs of the entire North Goa and the coastal region.
Reparing of damaged transformers in South Goa is under process which will be done in the next 4/5 days. In this entire work, Goa is facing a shortage of workers and thus the Minister said that he will be hiring nearly 200 linemen by August. Dhavalikar is also planning to install high tension cables underground in some areas so that Goa will rarely face power fluctuations.
