A leopard was found dead in Goa on Thursday after it was caught in a snare. The snare was believed to have been set up to catch wild boars, but it is not yet clear whether it was set up by poachers A forest department official reported that the watchman of a property in Petkem village alerted the forest department about a leopard trapped around 4 pm, after which a team was promptly rushed to the location, which was approximately 4 km away from a forested area. Though the animal was alive when the officials arrived, it was struggling to breathe. The officials made every effort to rescue it, but unfortunately, the animal succumbed and died on the spot. The forest officials mentioned that poachers frequently set traps for capturing wild boars and other animals.
