Oil marketing firms, including BPCL, HPCL, and IOCL, plan to launch 190 additional retail locations in the state due to the state's increasing fuel consumption. 136 stores are now open in Goa. With the addition of new locations in urban regions, roads, agricultural pockets, and rural and remote places, the three PSU oil marketing companies (OMCs) will eventually increase the state's retail network to 326 fuel stations.
The project intends to make high-quality petroleum products easily accessible to meet the fuel demands of rural areas, farmers, and individuals living in remote areas.
OMCs report that retail sales of petrol and diesel have increased over time as a result of rising energy demand associated with the expansion of the economy. In India, Goa has the highest per-capita fuel use. Compared to the national average of 2.09 kg per month, the state's per capita usage of petrol is 10.6 kg per month.
According to the petroleum planning and analysis cell (PPAC) of the ministry of petroleum, the per capita consumption of diesel in Goa is 15.6 kg per month, which is three times higher than the 4.96 kg per month average consumption across all of India. The per capita consumption of LPG petrol cylinders is 3.9 kg per month, which is higher than the national average of 1.7 kg per month.
After a gap of five years, OMCs have again advertised for the installation of petrol stations. 2018 saw the release of the most recent advertisement for opening retail locations. The growth of the retail outlet network not only meets the growing demand for energy but also creates jobs.
Entrepreneurs are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to collaborate with Fortune 500 businesses and launch prosperous businesses in the fuel dealership industry.
Land has become more expensive and scarce as a result of the country's economic growth, and it has also given landowners additional chances to use their property for other uses like retail dealership.
The OMCs have adopted user-friendly online simplified application forms to streamline the hiring process and comply with the government's emphasis on ease of doing business.
Candidates in SC and ST areas can apply without land at first, but they will be expected to offer land when they are shortlisted for selection. While having access to adequate property at the advertised site is an essential criterion for setting up a fuel station, applicants in these places can apply without land at first. The decision-making procedure will be based on a computerised lottery or on a bid opening performed by a third party.
All upcoming retail establishments will be built with the most recent technologies, including automation. One big opportunity for entrepreneurship is the sale of retail establishments.
