Goa is now prepared to present its best work for further two significant gatherings of the influential bloc, G20, in July.
Nodal officer for G20 meetings in Goa Sanjit Rodrigues, in an interview with PTI, said, “The two latest meetings on tourism were the sixth and the seventh G20 meets hosted in Goa. Altogether, nine G20 events will take place in our state. Clean energy ministerial meeting and another G20 meeting will take place here in July.”
The state of Goa has already hosted seven G20 meetings in total, including five events related to startups, finance, audit, development, and health before the tourist track sessions.
These two occasions would also be held back-to-back in July from 19–22, just like the tourist track meetings, he said.
Ministers from the United Kingdom, Oman, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and other important delegations were among those who arrived at the state capital for the tourism ministerial meeting.
Over the past three months, delegates from G20 nations gathered for the G20 tourism ministerial meeting and the fourth and final meeting of the G20 tourism working group in Goa.
Additionally, he added, high-profile, significant events like the G20 meetings raise the brand value.
“Large meetings like these grab more eyeballs and generate revenue. We had large meetings in the past like the BRICS meet, SCO conference, and now nine meetings of the G20 in total in Goa,” the official said.
Besides infrastructure and good accessibility, there is “expertise in the state in delivering flawless events like these”, and so Rodrigues felt why Goa was and is preferred for such high-profile meets.
“This was one of the biggest meetings and a special for Goa as this (tourism) is our bread and butter. We want to showcase Goa in the best possible way,” he asserted.
