On Tuesday morning, the first images of the trapped workers inside the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, emerged. The significant advancement occurred one day after rescuers broke through the debris of the collapsed Silkyara tunnel and managed to push a six-inch-wide pipeline through, a breakthrough that would let them feed the 41 workers who had been trapped for nine days with more food.
Through the substitute six-inch food pipeline, an endoscopic camera was used to take the pictures.
In the video, the employees converse with one another while receiving food items sent to them through a pipeline while wearing yellow and white helmets. The families of these workers are deeply relieved by this.
Thus far, oxygen and supplies such as dry fruit and medications have been supplied into the stretch of the tunnel that falls beyond the debris of the collapsed section of the under-construction tunnel on the Char Dham route in Uttarakhand using a four-inch existing tube.
Anshu Manish Khalkho, director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), referred to it as the "first breakthrough" at the location. "We have sent the pipe 53 metres to the other side of the rubble and the trapped workers can hear and experience us," he said.
“First achievement, big achievement. The next step is the more vital one and the most important – that’s to get them out intact, happy,” his colleague Col Deepak Patil said.
