Uttarakhand's IT Systems Hit by Major Cyberattack

A significant cyberattack in Uttarakhand has brought the state’s entire IT infrastructure to a grinding halt, severely impacting government operations. Due to the attack, key government websites and services have been completely shut down, including critical platforms like the CM Helpline, Land Registry, and the e-Office system.

Government Offices Remain Non-Operational for Second Day

For the second consecutive day, government offices across Uttarakhand are unable to function, leading to a widespread disruption of administrative tasks, including those at the state Secretariat. This has caused delays in essential government services, affecting operations statewide.

ITDA Director Confirms Malware Detection

Speaking with ANI, Nikita Khandelwal, Director of the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), confirmed the presence of malware. "During a routine scan on October 2, we discovered that our system was affected by malware. As a precaution, we shut down our data center, which has led to the closure of all applications. We are currently scanning all affected systems," Khandelwal explained.

Efforts Underway to Restore Services

Khandelwal further added, "We are working on resolving the issue and aim to have services restored by tomorrow morning. Around 186 government websites have been impacted by the cyberattack."
