The meteorological service reported that snow and rain continued to fall overnight in numerous parts of Uttarakhand on Thursday, adding to the chill.
The ongoing snow and rain are expected to cause the temperature to drop by four to five degrees Celsius, according to the MeT.
The extended dry season that threatened the apple crop in the upper Himalayan region has ended thanks to the current weather shift.
Chills in Northern India Continue
The state's upper regions continued to see snowfall on Thursday, while the districts of Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri, and Dehradun had sporadic showers in the lower regions.
Snow covers Badrinath, Hemkund Sahib, Valley of Flowers, Nanda Devi National Park, Kedarnath, the shrines of Gangotri and Yamunotri, and Chakrata in the Dehradun district.
The MeT issued a yellow notice for heavy rain, snowfall, and thunderstorms in isolated areas of Uttarakhand's hills for 24 hours beginning Wednesday evening.
The weather office stated that an active western disturbance is predicted to affect Uttarakhand from January 31 to February 1 based on current meteorological studies and weather prediction models.
