Two Train Coaches on Fire near the Secunderabad Railway Station

On Thursday morning, Two train coaches caught fire while parked in the washing line at Mettuguda, near the South Central Railway (SCR) main office, near the Road-under-Bridge adjacent to the SCR headquarters, Rail Nilayam.

The fire was reported by railway staff. The local fire department, acting swiftly, reached the site of the incident.

Challenge for Firefighters

As the site had dense bushes and the position of the washing line was elevated, Firefighters faced significant challenges. They resorted to using ladders to reach the burning coaches.

Thick smoke was billowing from the two air-conditioned coaches. Despite the heavy smoke and intense heat, the fire personnel managed to contain and extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent coaches.

No casualties were reported as the coaches were empty at the time of the fire. The exact cause of the blaze remains unknown, pending a detailed investigation by fire department officials and railway authorities.

Most trains arriving at Secunderabad station are parked at the Mettuguda washing line for cleaning before their next scheduled journey.

The railway staff expressed their gratitude to the fire department for their prompt and effective response, which averted a potentially larger disaster.
