Prosperous start of a new year and a moment of joy for the 1300 souls of remote villages Kundiyan and Patroo of Keran along the line of control (LOC) in Kupwara district, because the villagers got electricity supply (through grid connectivity) for the first time in 75 years.
According to reports, the people of these two remote villagers, under the Samridh Seema Yojna (SSY) by KPDCL districts Kupwara, finally will be able to end their nights after a long wait as two substations of 250 KV (33kv/440 volts) completed. Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir inaugurated it yesterday.
The residents expressed their gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's administration which brought grid connectivity to these once-isolated villagers, the spokesman said.
Residents were so happy and even shrieked as it was a joyful moment where a digital India is already advancing to space exploration and these villagers have spent nights in the dark for the last 75 years. They felt thankful for the efforts of the DC of Kupwara Ayushi Sudan when witnessed the electricity illuminating their houses.
Excited and happy villagers had gathered at Kundian to welcome the DC, who came to interact and congratulated the people of Patroo and Kundian and appreciated PRIs for getting grid connectivity for the first time. She said that it was a very well-done job and everything was done in mission mode.
