In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old boy named Sohail lost his life in Taimoor Nagar, southeast Delhi, after being electrocuted. The police discovered that heavy rainfall had caused waterlogging in the area, and the boy came into contact with live wires submerged in the water. The incident occurred around noon on Sunday, and despite being rushed to the hospital, the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival.
People who were present nearby immediately informed the electric department and the power was cut in the area. However, it took a few minutes for the power to be cut, and during that time, Sohail continued to suffer electric shocks. This incident happened on the same day when a woman lost her life due to a severe electric shock she received from an electric pole at New Delhi Railway Station. After the tragic death of a young woman in Delhi due to electrocution at New Delhi Railway Station on Sunday, the two major power distribution companies, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Yamuna Power Limited, issued advisory guidelines asking the public to stay away from electric poles and waterlogged areas. BSES officials have stated that they are taking every measure possible in order to ensure that consumers have a safe and incident-free monsoon season, as well as an uninterrupted electricity supply.
