An accident occurred on the East Coast Road at Sethubavachathiram in the Thanjavur district that resulted in four fatalities and seven injuries. On Saturday morning, the collision happened when a car travelling at high speed struck a culvert's parapet. Eleven individuals from Indira Nagar in Thoothukudi district, including the dead, were travelling in an SUV to the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health in Velankanni for religious observances. Close to Manora Fort, the driver lost control of the car and struck the parapet.
Four people died instantly as a result of the SUV's front end being seriously injured. The names of the deceased were M. Rani, A. Gnanambal, M. Packiyaraj, and M. Chinnapandi. Their remains were brought to the Pattukottai Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. The seven injured people were brought to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for care. After filing a case, the Sethubavachathiram police are still looking into the accident.
