Thrissur: Kudumbashree's grand 'Thiruvathira' dance sets world record with 7027 dancers

A women's collective in Kerala, comprising 7,027 members, achieved a remarkable feat by performing the traditional Thiruvathira dance in Thrissur. Kudumbashree, recognized as one of the world's largest women's organizations, earned a place in both Talent World Records and the Limca Book of World Records for having the highest number of participants in a dance performance.

This extraordinary event unfolded at the Kuttanellur Government College in Thrissur as a part of the district-level Onam celebrations. The ceremony received its inauguration from the state Revenue Minister, K Rajan, and lasted for an impressive 10 minutes. Rajan emphasized that Kudumbashree serves as an exemplary model for women's empowerment.

Thiruvathira, a traditional Kerala dance form predominantly performed during Onam festivities, saw a total of 7,027 Kudumbashree workers participating in the dance, surpassing the previous record of 6,582 participants.
