An Indian Army vehicle was fired upon in the Battal area of Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning. No casualties or injuries have been reported by attempted terror attack. Following the incident, a search operation was launched to locate the perpetrators and secure the area.
This attack is the latest in a string of violent incidents across Jammu and Kashmir. Just last week, two soldiers and two civilians lost their lives when terrorists ambushed an army convoy in Baramulla district, attacking personnel from the Rashtriya Rifles unit along with civilians. Days earlier, terrorists gunned down a doctor and six non-local laborers at a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal’s Gagangir area.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently addressed the issue, saying that "every drop of innocent blood will be avenged." Terrorists have increasingly targeted soldiers, civilians, and workers involved in regional development projects. Sinha also pointed out the involvement of a neighboring country in perpetuating terrorism and narcotics trafficking.
