Telangana BJP Boycotts Oath with AIMIM's Owaisi as Protem Speaker

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen lawmaker is presiding over the oath-taking ceremony, and Raja Singh, the BJP's newly elected MLA-elect, expressed his disapproval to Akbaruddin Owaisi's appointment as the Telangana assembly's pro-tem Speaker. He also stated that he and the other BJP MLAs would not take part in the ceremony. According to a government order (GO), the newly elected MLAs of Telangana are expected to take an oath at the inaugural session of the legislative assembly, which is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

On Saturday morning at Raj Bhawan, Akbaruddin Owaisi was sworn in as the Telangana legislative assembly's pro-tem speaker.

Raja Singh declared in a video message that he would never accept an oath in front of AIMIM "as long as he is alive." Raja Singh questioned, "Can I take an oath in front of Akbaruddin Owaisi, someone who has made anti-Hindu remarks in the past?" He further noted that in 2018, when an AIMIM member served as the pro-tem Speaker, he did not take the oath of office as an MLA."It is really regrettable. The true character of the Congress has emerged since it formed the government and appointed Revanth Reddy as the chief minister. Revanth Reddy, the recently appointed chief minister, needs to explain the relationship between his party and AIMIM after previously alleging a tacit understanding between BRS, AIMIM, and the BJP.We refuse to take an oath in front of someone like that. We're going to boycott," declared Raja Singh.

The BJP leader claimed that although other senior MLAs might have been appointed pro-tem Speaker, Reddy only tried to please AIMIM leaders and minorities.
