Weather Warning and Forecast- A 'Orange' alert has been issued for Tamil Nadu and coastal and interior Andhra Pradesh, indicating the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall. The IMD predicts localized heavy rainfall in the north coastal region of Tamil Nadu from December 2 to December 4, raising concerns about potential waterlogging and harm to public infrastructure in Chennai and its neighbouring areas.

Cyclone Progress and Impact- The clearly identified low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal has now developed into a depression, and it is expected to become even stronger. It is predicted that the system will turn into a Cyclonic Storm over the Southwest Bay of Bengal by December 3. As a precautionary measure, authorities have taken the initiative to release water from Chembarambakkam Lake in order to effectively regulate water levels and avoid any potential flooding.
Planned route and safety measures- Cyclone Michaung is predicted to travel in a northwest direction, passing through South Andhra Pradesh and the adjacent North Tamil Nadu coast, specifically between Chennai and Machilipatnam on the evening of December 4. It is kindly requested that fishermen residing in coastal regions temporarily halt their activities for their own safety. The government has taken proactive measures, such as discharging water from reservoirs and issuing necessary alerts.
