The focus of the new policy, which Chief Minister M K Stalin unveiled on Tuesday at the Secretariat, would be ensuring that food is environmentally friendly, safe, and healthy. After five years, the policy will be reviewed to keep track of progress, and committees at the state and district levels will be established. According to the policy, Tamil Nadu ranks 14th in the country for organic farming with 31,629 hectares of organic agriculture land, while India ranks fifth with 2.66 million hectares.
