A petition requesting that the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction of the Shiv Sena transfer all party assets to the group headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was dismissed by the Supreme Court on Friday. Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha questioned Giri's locus and dismissed his plea, asking "Who are you? What is your locus?"
Giri had drawn attention to the top court's previous hearing of petitions concerning the Thackeray-Shinde conflict and had put forth the argument that the party's assets ought to be handed over to the Shinde faction. However, the bench rejected the petition, stating, "What kind of petition is this, and who are you? Your request cannot be entertained."On March 16, a batch of cross-petitions related to the Maharashtra political crisis from the factions of Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were reserved for a verdict by the top court.
