Getting a haircut or shave in Maharashtra has officially become more expensive.
Following a decision by the Maharashtra Nabhik Mahamandal, service charges at over one lakh local barber shops and salons across the state have been increased by approximately 20%.
The New Rate Card:
Standard Haircut: ₹180
Shaving: ₹120
Beard Trimming: ₹150
Head Massage: ₹180
Hair Wash: ₹120
Facials: Starting at ₹700
Hair Spa: Starting at ₹600
Why the Hike?
The organization, representing the state’s barber community, attributed this unusual mid-term price revision to the escalating Iran-US conflict in West Asia.
This geopolitical tension has led to significant supply chain disruptions, driving up the costs of essential salon consumables, including shampoos, oils, razors, creams, and professional beauty products.
Small shop owners, who have historically absorbed these costs to avoid burdening customers, stated that the current economic pressure left them with no choice but to adjust rates to sustain their livelihoods.
