Saket court frames murder charge against Aaftab Poonawalla in Shraddha Walkar case

On May 9th, Aftab Amin Poonawala was charged with murder and destruction of evidence in the Shraddha Walkar murder case by a Delhi court. The accusation against Poonawala involves the killing and dismemberment of Shraddha's body, which he reportedly kept in a refrigerator for several days before disposing of the pieces over the course of several weeks. Aftab Amin Poonawala has been formally charged with murder (under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code) and destruction of evidence (under Section 201 of the IPC) by Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar at the Saket court. Poonawala has entered a plea of not guilty and will stand trial, with the next hearing scheduled for June 1st, 2023 for the prosecution to present their evidence. The court had reserved its decision on charging Poonawala in April 2023.
