Ratan Tata awarded Maharashtra's Udyog Ratan award

Ratan Tata, a seasoned industrialist, received the first "Udyog Ratna" award presented by the Maharashtra government on August 19, 2023.

At the businessman's residence in Colaba, south Mumbai, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, along with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, gave the award to the 85-year-old chairman emeritus of Tata Sons.

A shawl, a citation, and a souvenir by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) were included with the award.

After the ceremony, Mr. Shinde spoke with reporters and claimed that Mr. Tata's designation as a "Udyog Ratna" had raised the award's stature.

"The Tata group's contribution in all sectors is immense. Tata signifies trust," he remarked.           

The Tata Group works in more than 100 countries on six continents and produces everything from salt to steel. The overall revenue of Tata Enterprises in fiscal year 2021–2022 was $128 billion.
