This move comes a month after the Supreme Court ordered a halt on demolition activities without judicial permission, raising concerns over indiscriminate actions. "How can anybody's house be demolished only because he is an accused? Even if he is a convict, still it can't be done without following the procedure as prescribed by law," Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan said in a statement.
The situation has drawn political attention, with opposition parties like the Samajwadi Party and Congress criticizing the move. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ameeque Jamei condemned the demolition notice, calling it a biased action targeting Muslims and accusing the BJP of stoking the violence.
