President Droupadi Murmu presented bravery awards to three policemen of Maharashtra

Three police personnel from Maharashtra have been awarded with the Shaurya Chakra. On Tuesday 9 May, President Droupadi Murmu presented Shaurya Chakra to these three in Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan. These three brave Shaurya Chakra holders are SP Somay Munde, Head Constable Ravindra Naitam and Police Naik Tikaram Kateng. They displayed their courage in a Naxalite attack during an anti-naxal operation in Gadchiroli,  Maharashtra. The Shaurya chakra is a military award for valour which may be awarded to civilians as well as military personnel.

Vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar, PM Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were presented for this occasion. On this occasion, a total of 29 people were awarded the Shaurya chakra and another 8 were awarded with the Kirti Chakra.
