New Urban Extension Road-2 can take you to Delhi Airport In 20 mins, details inside

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced significant improvements in Delhi's transportation infrastructure. One of the notable projects is the construction of the Urban Extension Road 2 (UER 2), expected to open in the next two to three months. UER 2 aims to substantially reduce travel time from Kundli on the Delhi-Haryana border to Terminal 3 (T3) of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI).

The key details are as follows:

1. Reduced Travel Time: UER 2 will significantly cut down travel time from Kundli to IGI Airport T3, reducing it to just 20 minutes, compared to the previous two-hour journey.

2. Construction Progress: Minister Gadkari highlighted that the project is nearing completion, with the road expected to be open for public use within the next two to three months.

3. Tunnel Road: UER 2 includes a substantial tunnel road at the Shiv Murti junction, which passes beneath the airstrip and connects directly to T3 of IGI Airport. This tunnel will enhance transportation efficiency to the airport.

4. Elevated Urban Expressway: UER 2 is poised to become India's first elevated urban expressway, designed to address traffic congestion issues between Delhi and Gurugram.

5. Cost of the Project: The estimated cost of the UER 2 project is Rs 9,000 crore.

6. Features of the Expressway: The key features of the expressway include:

   ◇ A 29-kilometer-long, eight-lane elevated access control expressway.

   ◇ The Dwarka Expressway toll collection will be completely automated, and the project will be equipped with an Efficient Transport System (ITS).

   ◇ The road network of this expressway consists of a tunnel, underpass, grade road, elevated road, and a flyover built over the flyover.

7. Improved Connectivity: The project aims to improve connectivity for residents of Haryana and West Delhi to IGI Airport. Intersection points include Pataudi Road (SH-26) near Harsaru and Farukhnagar (SH-15A) near Basai in Haryana.

8. Crossings and Routes: UER 2 will also cross the Delhi-Rewari railway line near Gurgaon Sector-88 (B) and UER 2 at Bharthal. Additionally, it will provide connectivity to Global City via Dwarka Sector-21 through Sectors 88, 83, 84, 99, and 113 in Gurugram.

9. Impact on Commuters: Travelers on the Dwarka Expressway can expect a significantly reduced journey time of just five minutes from Dwarka to IGI Airport. This improvement is expected to ease transportation for residents of Gurugram.
