According to an official on Saturday, Naxals killed a 27-year-old man in the Gadchiroli district of eastern Maharashtra claiming he was a police informant.
According to a police officer, Ramji Atram, a resident of Kapewancha village in Aheri tehsil, was shot dead on Friday night. This is the second murder the Naxals are responsible for in the district this week.
The attackers left a handwritten note claiming that Atram was a police informant and that Naxal's wife had been killed in a confrontation with security agents as a result of his information.
But the policeman rejected the claim that he was an informant. He said that the aforementioned encounter happened fourteen months ago.
On Thursday night, in Titola village, Etapalli tehsil of the district, Naxals shot and killed Lalsu Velda, a 'village patil', 63, and also attacked a few other localities.
The Gadchiroli Divisional Committee of the Naxals took responsibility for the incident and stated in a pamphlet discovered there that the villagers were in favour of the Surjagarh iron ore mines project in Hedari, which the Naxals are against.
