Mumbai: A devastating fire erupted around 5:00 am Wednesday morning at the Azad Nagar slum area, near Bhayander in Thane district of Maharashtra, tragically resulting in one fatality. One person died, and several others sustained burn injuries in a fire that destroyed several huts. The charred body from the location has been sent for a post-mortem.
A fire team, equipped with 24 fire engines, arrived promptly at the scene to combat the flames, Sanjay Katkar, Municipal Commissioner of Meera-Bhayander Municipal Corporation, told Vygr News. Within a few hours of intense effort, the fire brigade team brought the fire under control.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of a fire that broke out earlier today in the Azad Nagar slum area. The blaze, which engulfed the slum area, has left many questions unanswered as the authorities work tirelessly to probe its origin.
In response to the sudden blaze, residents, both those dwelling in huts and others within the locality, hurriedly evacuated their homes. They swiftly alerted the fire department and police about the situation.
The fire brigade swiftly responded to the emergency, rescuing dozens of individuals who were trapped amidst the flames and smoke. The prompt action of the fire brigade service prevented further casualties and ensured the safety of localities.
