A tragic accident occurred late on Monday night, December 29, 2025, near Bhandup West Railway Station, when a reversing BEST electric bus plowed into pedestrians on the crowded Station Road.
At least four people, including three women, were killed and approximately nine others were injured in the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest the driver accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while attempting a U-turn near the bus depot.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh for the families of the deceased as the driver remains in police custody.
