The very famous temple in Dadar, Mumbai, Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple, is always crowded with lots of devotees in the country. People have faith in this worship place. Local people do visit this place regularly and have Prasad as a blessing. But this Prasad is now the main reason of a problem for all the local residents near the temple. Laddoos which are distributed as Prasad are made using ghee. It needs tons of ghee to make Prasad on a regular basis. But due to the continuous heavy smell of ghee, it is getting difficult for residents to live near this temple.
Kamana CHS near Shree Siddhivinayak temple raised their voices against this. They are not happy with the commercialization of the temple, said one of the residents from Kamana society. Recently, the temple has shifted its industrial kitchen to a waiting area. Residents are asking them to shift the Laddoo making process to somewhere in the industrial area, stating the fact that industrial activities can’t be placed in residential premises. Brihnmumbai Corporation considered society’s complaint and ordered temple authorities to shift excessive material like ghee from the temple premises which are likely to catch fire.
While explaining the scenario, Vishakha Raut, the temple trustee said, “For security purposes, we have to make Prasad under CCTV surveillance. But we are trying to plant chimneys accordingly to sort the issue.” She also cross questioned society’s complaint as the temple has been making Prasad here since 2000. But she did say that the temple will definitely find a solution considering the complaint.
