Rain has always been good and bad for Mumbai. And especially bad when it comes to train travel. Rain is the only thing which has been successful in stopping Mumbai locals. But flood situations, heavy rains are really problematic and can stop the entire rail network of Mumbai within minutes. Thus, to get control over such situations, tackle this problem, the Central Railway has procured 5 inflatable rescue boats at important stations of the Central line including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Kurla, Thane, Matunga and Badlapur.
By adding these boats and also the drone cameras, railway authorities will be able to identify the problem before hand and can provide them with the necessary solution. This heavy rain and local train inconveniences generally happened beyond Kalyan stations and near Matunga and Kurla stations. In the past, Mumbai railway has experienced several tragedies due to rain. This forward step may lessen the trouble that train people face during the monsoon.
RPF has trained their personnel to handle the drone cameras properly. Implementation of this initiative will show its best results soon.
