Greek PM in India: From 'Allegory of the Cave' to Landing in Largest Republic

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, upon his arrival to inaugurate the 9th Raisina Dialogue on Wednesday evening, held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier in the day at New Delhi’s Hyderabad House to double the bilateral trade volume by 2030.

Reciprocating PM Modi’s August visit to Greece, the keynote speaker of the 9th Raisina Dialogue underscored state-level collaboration in domains like start-ups and innovation, space, nanotechnology, biotechnology, quantum energy, and clean energy, as Vygr News learnt.

Following his visit, the two nations are expected to boost their pharmaceuticals, shipping (especially ports), and food industries as well. This is the first time in 16 years that a Greek head of state is visiting India.

New Delhi and Athens two capitals are contemplating signing an agreement on mobility to strengthen people-to-people contact. Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra briefed the reporters here on Wednesday.

The Center is working on setting up an arrangement with a set of European nations to foster academia as well as job creation, as Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra apprised without naming the institutes.

Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis is accompanied by a contingent, including his wife Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis, and a delegation of sixty-plus strong business leaders. Before concluding the state visit, he will meet the business leaders in Mumbai, as Vygr News learnt.

During the discussion, the pair raised the issue of collaboration in the areas of defense and strategic partnership beyond arm procurement and production. The two have already developed their relations into a strategic partnership level and deputed each other’s National Security Advisors to work on areas of mutual interest.
