On Thursday, the state government removed mountaineer Megha Parmar from her role as brand ambassador for the Women and Child Development Department's 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign. This occurred two days after she joined the opposition Congress party. An order issued on May 10, 2023, by Women and Child Development Additional Director Rajpal Kor relieved all brand ambassadors and gender champions of their duties, including Megha Parmar. Megha, who is the first woman to climb the highest peaks in five countries, including Mount Everest, had been appointed as the ambassador during the Congress government led by Kamal Nath. Sources suggest that Megha may be nominated as a Congress candidate for the Ichhawar assembly constituency in the Sehore district. The announcement of her joining the Congress party was made during the launch of the Nari Samman Yojana in Parasia, Chhindwara district, in the presence of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
