🔥 Massive Fire Breaks Out at Surat's Khajod Waste Disposal Site; Thick Smoke Triggers Panic

A massive fire has erupted at the Khajod waste disposal site in Surat, Gujarat, triggering panic among nearby residents and raising fresh concerns over environmental safety.

The blaze reportedly started after a large stockpile of combustible hot-mix material caught fire amid the accumulated garbage, spreading across nearly half a kilometre. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky, creating serious air pollution concerns.

The Surat Municipal Corporation deployed 10 fire engines, while firefighters are using JCB machines to dig through the waste and extinguish flames burning deep beneath the surface.

Repeated fire incidents at the site have raised questions about waste management practices, alleged illegal dumping of industrial materials and the possibility of deliberate arson.

Why does the Khajod dumping site keep catching fire?
