The state government of Manipur has sought financial support from the Centre. They have requested an aid of Rs.10 crore, for the relief of people who were displaced from their native to different places.
With the ethnic riots that shook the state for the past few months now, almost 13,000 civilians were displaced from their native place to temporary camps to ensure safety from the riots. On this note, the Manipur government sought the help of PM Narendra Modi, by writing him 2 letters seeking financial aid. Although the Central government has agreed to release the funds, there has still been a delay in the disbursement.
A total of 35 relief camps have been set up in 11 places in Mizoram, where the people have been temporarily accustomed in camps or staying with their relatives.Mizoram Home Commissioner, Home Minister and Tourism Minister, are the officers duly responsible to release aid to the Manipur government.
