Manipur updates: 9 dead, 10 injured in fresh violence in Khamenlok district of Manipur

According to the authorities, a terrorist attack on a village in Manipur's Khamenlok resulted in at least nine fatalities and ten wounded.

The terrorists surrounded the residents of Khamelok, which borders the districts of Kangpoki and Imphal East, with their highly advanced weapons. Police reported that the attack started at one in the morning.

According to them, the wounded have been taken to the Imphal hospital.

The region is located on the borders of the tribal-dominated Kangpokpi district and the Meitei-dominated Imphal East district.

In a battle between terrorists and local volunteers on Monday night in the Khamenlok area, nine persons were hurt.

They added that on Tuesday near Phougakchao Ikhai in the Bishnupur district, the security forces and Kuki terrorists engaged in a firefight.

Security personnel challenged the militants as they attempted to build bunkers close to Meitei villages, which led to a firefight.

The curfew relaxation hours in Imphal East have been shortened by the local officials from the customary 5 am to 6 pm to 5 am to 9 am.

The violence against ethnic groups in Manipur that erupted a month ago between members of the Meitei and Kuki communities resulted in at least 100 fatalities and 310 injuries. To bring calm back to the state, army and paramilitary men were sent there.
