During the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls held on Tuesday, a voter turnout of 61.08 percent was recorded across the 11 states conducting elections. The polling process was largely peaceful, with Assam, Goa, and West Bengal registering the highest voter turnouts at 75.01%, 74.22%, and 73.93%, respectively.
The substantial participation in these states reflects the active engagement of citizens in the democratic process. As the election progresses, continued high voter turnout underscores the significance of democratic participation in shaping the nation's future.

- Exchange of Fire in Kulgam: Two Terrorists Killed

A firefight between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, ensued after an attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch. Two terrorists were neutralised, but their identities remain undisclosed. Search operations intensified in the region, and over 20 individuals were detained for questioning. IAF Officer Vikky Pahade, who lost his life in the attack, was laid to rest with full military honours. The IAF expressed condolences and solidarity with Pahade's family. Security measures have been implemented in Poonch and Rajouri districts to prevent further violence.

Voter turnout is 50% in the third phase.

By 3 p.m. on May 7, 93 constituencies spread across 11 states and a Union Territory were part of the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which saw a voter turnout of more than 50%. With 63.11% of the vote, West Bengal had the highest turnout, while Maharashtra had the lowest at 42.63%.

- Voter turnout by 11 am. 
The eastern state of West Bengal was leading with the highest voter turnout at 32.82 percent as of 11 a.m. Maharashtra, came in last with an overall turnout of 25.41 percent, or 18.18 percent.

The Morena district administration has put three prominent candidates for the Morena parliamentary seat under house arrest at the police lines in an effort to guarantee a smooth and peaceful voting process. This measure affects the following candidates: Ramesh Chandra Garg of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Satyapal Singh Sikarwar of the Congress, and Shivmangal Singh Tomar of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

- Udayanraje Bhosale Casts Vote in Satara
Udayanraje Bhosale, a BJP-Mahayuti candidate for Satara, cast his vote at 7:07 am. He is the 13th direct descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji and has previously won the Satara Lok Sabha seat on an NCP ticket. Bhosale maintained his victory against the 'Modi onslaught' in 2019.

Prime Minister Modi Votes in Gandhinagar

Gujarat is taking part in the single-phase Lok Sabha election for 25 seats, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his right to vote today at a polling place in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. Alongside Modi at the polling place was Union Minister and prominent BJP figure Amit Shah, who is running to keep the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.

- Phase 3 of the General Elections: More than 11 million voters
