Lashkar-e-Taiba’s TRF Behind Ganderbal Attack in J&K, Killing Seven and Injuring Five

In a horrific incident on Sunday, seven people died and five others were left injured when terrorists targeted labourers working on the construction of a tunnel in Gund area of Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district. They opened fire on the labourers at the spot. The terror attack resulted in killing of two workers on the spot, while four others died of their injuries later during treatment. Five people wounded are being treated. The police and the army have cordoned off the area  while searching for terrorists. A Kashmiri doctor has also fallen victim to this shooting incident.

TRF Claims Responsibility for Deadly Ganderbal Attack

The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to the Pakistani terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, has taken responsibility for the recent attack in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. Sheikh Sajjad Gul TRF's leader, was identified as the mastermind behind the attack. According to a statement from TRF shared on social media stated  the group’s local members carried out the attack. Which happened at a construction site for a tunnel project, meant mainly for military use was being built. In January 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) banned TRF, along with its related organizations, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967 and officially designating it as a terrorist group.

Similar Incident Recently

This is the second brutal killing in past few days, when a labourer from Bihar was discovered dead in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. His body was discovered when he failed to return after going out for corn harvesting. Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, condemned the killing.

Leaders Condemn Attack

The act was widely condemned. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah described the act as "dastardly and cowardly." He condoled the victims' families and expressed his sorrows on X. He wished speedy recovery to the injured, who were shifted to SKIMS, Srinagar, for treatment. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also condemned the attack, terming the victims "innocent laborers involved in a infrastructure project"
