Insta reels turned useful for Mumbai police, leads to men planning robberies with firearms

Two armed men from Uttar Pradesh were detained by the Mumbai police for reportedly preparing a robbery in the city. According to the authorities, they had uploaded an Instagram video where they could be seen showing off the weapons.

One of the two men was also wanted in connection with a rape case that had been reported to the Meghwadi police station.

A team headed by the Crime Branch Unit IX Daya Nayak was informed that two guys, Arbaz Khan (age 23) and Tabish Hussain (age 22), were bringing weapons to Mumbai. The duo was captured after the police squad set up a trap.

According to a policeman, the two were found to be in possession of two revolvers, three choppers, and cartridges. The accused, according to the police, revealed that they had intended to carry out robberies in the city.

The policeman said that after receiving the information, they searched both men's social media accounts and discovered a reel on Arbaz's Instagram account that showed the weapons. This verified the data the Crime Branch had obtained, he continued.

The two were charged with violating the Arms Act and appeared in court locally on Thursday.
