India's first water Metro in Kerala: Features, routes, fare and other details

Kerala will host India's first water metro on Tuesday, April 25. The first water metro will make its debut in Kochi, which is frequently referred to as Kerala's commercial hub.

  • Transport by water uses less energy than transport by rail or by road. As a result, the initiative's main goals are to lessen urban pollution and traffic congestion.
  • The water metro will make it simpler for urban homes along the Cochi Lakeshore to get to bustling areas on the mainland.
  • With eight electric hybrid boats created by Cochin Shipyard Limited, the metro project will get underway.
  • Ten islands in and around the port city of Kochi are connected by the water metro.
  • This fantastic project is being funded by the Kerala government and the German business KfW. It has 78 electric boats and 38 ports.
  • The High Court-Vypin and Vyttila-Kakkanad terminals will serve as the launch points for the KWM service in the initial phase.
  • According to Kerala's chief minister, travelers may go from High Court Terminal to Vypin Terminal without meeting any traffic in less than 20 minutes.
  • Starting at Rs 20, boat tickets are available. There are weekly and monthly passes available for regular passengers.
