The newly completed MT-07 mountain tunnel measures 417 metres in length and approximately 14.4 metres in width, allowing it to accommodate both the up and down tracks of the bullet train corridor within a single structure. Construction teams excavated the tunnel using a controlled drilling and blasting method from both ends. This approach enabled engineers to manage excavation precision while maintaining structural integrity in the hilly terrain of Palghar district.

Seven of Eight Mountain Tunnels Located in Maharashtra

According to NHSRCL, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project includes a total of eight mountain tunnels. Of these:

  • Seven tunnels are located in Palghar district, Maharashtra

  • One tunnel is located in Valsad district, Gujarat

The tunneling work on the Gujarat tunnel has already been completed, while work on the Maharashtra tunnels continues to progress steadily.
