Gujarat Principal kills Class 1 student for resisting sexual assault

The body of the six-year-old girl student was found three days ago in the backyard of a government primary school in Dahod district of Gujarat. Police on Sunday arrested the school principal for allegedly killing her. He smothered the Class 1 student when she resisted his attempt to sexually assault her in his car on the way to school, police said. According to police, incident occurred on Thursday morning, while he was driving to school from the girl's village.

The police reported that the principal finally broke down and confessed following a barrage of questions over the disappearance of the child from school Thursday as well as his own "time of leaving" the premises. The body was allegedly dumped in the school backyard after school hours, having been kept hidden in the principal's car the whole day while he went about his daily routine. A state primary school headmaster in Dahod has been arrested on a charge of allegedly killing a 6-year-old student as she resisted his sexual advances. The school principal was identified as Govind Nat, who acceded to her mother's request to take the girl to school in his car.

According to the police report, the teachers and the students stated that the girl had never come to school on that day. It was much later that, while questioning him, he denied taking the girl to school. There were apparent discrepancies in his story and technical evidence that made the police suspicious of him. School principal  confessed to the crime when he was being interrogated. He said that he had attempted to rape the girl while driving her and that, when she had resisted, he strangled her. It is said that the principal hid the body behind the school building. The post-mortem examination revealed that the girl had died due to suffocation.
